With over 50 years of marketing and communications experience, David is one of the leading strategic communication minds in the region. David is a Maritimer by choice and Montréaler by birth. In 1978, he and his wife, Lorrie Bell-Hawkins, founded Hawk Communications Inc., an advertising and public relations firm in Sackville. Twenty years later, the firm moved to Moncton and grew to include more than 70 employees in five offices, serving most of New Brunswick’s best-known companies and many public sector organizations.
Since the sale of Hawk Communications in 2001, David has gone on to start a variety of companies in the communications sector, and volunteers for many not-for-profit organizations. David is the CEO and a Founding Partner of BrainWorks, a company he co-founded in 2012.
David has sat on the Boards of many businesses, social services, and cultural organizations. He possesses tremendous experience and insight as to how to effectively communicate challenging public sector and social service change including major assignments with the New Brunswick Departments of Health, Finance, Education and Tourism.

Lorrie Bell Hawkins is a widely respected marketing and communications leader in Atlantic Canada. In the mid-70s, Lorrie and her husband David Hawkins started Hawk Communications, a two-person advertising, and public relations firm. Twenty years later, the firm had grown to include more than 70 employees in five offices, serving New Brunswick’s best-known companies.
As Treasurer and Founding Partner, Lorrie leads the administrative operations of BrainWorks with unparalleled attention to detail. Born in Montréal, Lorrie has spent most of the past forty years in rural New Brunswick, where she has expressed her love of nature and animals in a variety of creative forms. A skilled weaver and silversmith, in more recent years she has turned her talents to writing and illustration.

Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, Kathryn adds a bit of Southern charm to everything she does. She obtained her MBA from Université de Moncton in Marketing, has an undergraduate degree in creative writing, and is a Certified Associate in Project Management as well as a certified training practitioner from CSTD.
Armed with a whip-smart analytical mind, Kathryn runs the show at BrainWorks, has over a decade of management experience, and contributes a diverse skill-set that includes training, writing, research, analysis, graphic design, photography, and image editing. Kathryn believes that people think in images and retain visually-presented information far better than when it is provided verbally, a philosophy that continuously informs her design and approach.

Rita-Anne is what you call a professional multi-tasker. After spending time away from the Maritimes in Western Canada, she came back to Moncton and joined the Brainworks team with a smile and a no-challenge-is-too-big attitude. She excels at coordinating various projects and keeping clients informed, engaged, and challenged. Have a question? Rita-Anne will most likely know the answer right away and if not, she’ll find it.
Prior to joining Brainworks, she earned her Bachelors in Business Administration Degree with a specialty in Marketing from Okanagan College in Britsh Columbia. The best thing about her job? Seeing projects evolve from concept to completion, knowing every bit of client feedback was listened to, considered and added into the mix to deliver great outcomes.
When not coordinating a multitude of projects, she can be found reading, spending time with her family and friends and discovering new music.

Paul is the real deal. Known to turn around struggling operations and drive growth through effective hiring, training, and leadership, he has decades of experience in process improvement, office management, event support, and procurement. As our Director of Client Happiness, he’s all about going that extra mile to ensure those around him are delighted.
Prior to joining BrainWorks, Paul spent a decade in management for one of the largest coffee chains in the world, where he was brought in to help improve underperforming locations by training and empowering their teams. He is committed to developing new techniques and strategies that positively impact organizational culture.
When not delivering smiles, he can be found embarking on new culinary adventures or enjoying beautiful nature trails. He is also greatly involved in rescuing and fostering dogs in need.Originally from PEI, Paul is as authentic and hospitable as you can get.

Lauren is responsible for turning all the video projects into a reality. Scheduling film locations, photoshoots, events and every other aspect of the work of the video team, beautiful work comes to completion because of her skills. Her sharp sense of organization and willingness to do what it takes to make things happen is why she was invited to join Brainworks in the first place.
A graduate of Université de Moncton in Events & Marketing, she is also usually in charge of tackling events for our clients. Naturally good-tempered and tactful, you can count on Lauren to take you where you need to be, with a smile.
When not crushing it with the team, she likes to stay active and workout. An accomplished foodie, she can tell you all about the best local places to wine and dine around the Maritimes.

Nick Staples is an accomplished artistic and documentary-style videographer and editor. He has worked on multiple short and feature films as well as participated in multiple programs through film festivals. Nick has been a part of hundreds of commercial and community productions and brings an unparalleled work ethic and unique creative perspective to every project he’s involved in.

BrainWork ’s transatlantic connection, Jess was born in St. Albans, England but spent her formative years in Rothesay, New Brunswick. Owner and lead designer at Flower House, a boutique floral design studio that specializes in weddings, Jess’ entrepreneurial credentials offer her a unique perspective on building a loyal fanbase for a business. A social media savant and savvy strategist, Jess’ passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed shines through in all the work she does.

Harrison doesn’t believe in doing anything half- measure — when he’s in, he’s in 100%.
What started as a childhood hobby of taking photos of his biggest catch every fishing season evolved into a lifelong fascination with the moving image. After spending several years obsessing over perfecting his still photography, his interest in movies led him to expand his horizons into the realm of video.
Harrison graduated from Nova Scotia Community College where he earned his diploma in photography, business, and design. After moving to Calgary to further establish himself as a videographer, he founded Glass Stone Cinema in 2014 and has spent his career creating high-quality, creatively diverse, and emotionally authentic videos and films across Canada. In his decade as a videographer, he has filmed over 300 weddings and has been involved in commercial campaigns both national and local, including his work with The Nature Conservancy of Canada and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Pierre belongs to that rare breed that possesses both the spirit of an artist and the hustle of an entrepreneur. A graduate of the Digital Filmmaking program at the Centre for Arts and Technology in Fredericton, where he developed an aptitude for Cinematography and Editing, he leveraged his skills into starting his own production company, Acadia Bore Productions, in 2016. Since then, he’s been hard at work building his portfolio and honing his skills with corporate work and passion projects.

Danny joined the ranks of Brainworks with a focused attitude and a witty and creative mind. Always one to rise up to the occasion, every client is an opportunity for him to learn about what they do and see where their voice can take them. A big fan of the obvious, he loves clear and direct messaging that gets to the point and respects the reader. On a good day, you’ll see him work, smile and drink coffee. On a bad day, you’ll see him work, smile and drink coffee. Avid reader and lover of literature, he is always on the lookout for new ideas and concepts.
Prior to working with Brainworks, Danny spent almost a decade in an administration and sales role in Arts & Culture.
When not around the office, he can be found reading at home, out and about exploring every corner of the Maritimes or taking yet another copywriting, editing or literature class – a continuous learner that one!

ANIMATOR & DESIGNER
Lee’s calm and measured attitude is what did it for Brainworks. Having studied Design, Fashion Design and finally Graphic Design, her eye for detail and understanding of the power of image made her a natural addition to the team. She loves working where people come first, clients and team members alike.
Lee is also a self-taught animator extraordinaire. Doing more and more animation work, her portfolio is filling up by the minute. Her vivid imagination and quick thinking make her very well-suited for this kind of work. Her passion for video games probably helps, too.
When not infusing beauty into her work, Lee can be found trying out new recipes, catching up on her favourite podcasts, practicing her doodling skills and caring for her pet snake, Lazarus.

Nicholas used the year 2020 as a propeller for his development and decided to move to Moncton from Guelph, Ontario, to expand his career and further his filmmaking skills. Founder of Loess Media, his previous award-winning work centred on social justice, research communications, ethics, sustainability, and the environment. His documentary ‘’24Progressive’’ was rewarded among 375 films from 65 countries during the Toronto Urban Film Festival in 2013.
Nicholas brings with him a fresh perspective on digital storytelling and a unique creative process. Building on his extensive experience working with high-profile clients such as the Six Nations of the Grand River, the Green Party of Canada, and the University of Guelph, he seizes the opportunity each project brings to push the limits of his medium of choice.
When not at work, he likes to spend time outdoors and discover his new city with his wife, Rosa, and their dog, Agnes.
